| Over the summer 2009,
the Centre reached a milestone with the demolition
of the old workshop building, which was the original
home of the Centre back in 1983. There
is now a "wow" factor where the new buildings - the
Hall, the RT and Canteen buildings are to be seen
for the first time from O'Brien St. The
capital development programme, with a spend of
€2.3million over the last decade is testimony to the
work of everybody involved in MooreHaven over the
years. We are very fortunate to have the
Hall which is being used as three self contained
rooms for the different sections, day activation
and sewing, originally located in the old workshop
building. This temporary arrangement is until
Phase 3 is constructed which will be a dedicated
building for the Sheltered Occupational Services
within MooreHaven. The plan is to build on O'Brien
St, in front of where the Garden Centre is
presently. The aim is to commence
construction by mid 2010 with a completion in Spring
2011, all going well. As part of our fund raising
drive for Phase 3, a MooreHaven Golf Classic in
conjunction with the JP McManus Pro Am 2010 will be
run in Tipperary Golf Club on April 30th and 1st May
2010. The winners will play in the grand
qualifiers in Adare Golf Club with the winners from
this going forward to play with the world's top
professional golfers in July 2010 |
